✷ Community Engagement & Outreach

With a strong foundation in communications and a passion for social justice, I have actively contributed to community engagement and outreach efforts in various roles:

At UCSF's California Prevention Training Center (CAPTC), I played a pivotal role in enhancing our digital presence by crafting engaging social media content for the Coming Together Podcast and CAPTC events. My responsibilities included managing social media platforms, maintaining our website, and ensuring brand consistency across all communication channels.

In my role at the Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO), I supported the planning, implementation, and evaluation of training activities for member health centers and Tuberculosis Elimination Alliance (TEA) stakeholders. I contributed to the development of a comprehensive Impact Report for TEA and conducted a Needs Assessment of partnered Community Health Centers on their LTBI/TB needs and challenges.

As the Newsletter & Editor Lead at ABRIR Coalition, I collaborated as a member of the Education Planning Team to create impactful social media content and a bi-monthly newsletter, further strengthening my ability to engage and inform our community.

As a Field Canvasser for San Francisco Rising, I engaged with and educated over 300 Bay Area voters on California Propositions for the 2024 presidential general election in collaboration with PowerCA Action. This experience further demonstrates my abilities in engaging with and mobilizing community members.

As a Welcome Desk and Events Volunteer at the SF LGBT Center, I interacted directly with community members, offering support and information, and fostering a welcoming environment. My experience co-facilitating a 7-week sexual education course with Asian Health Services at Oakland Charter High School further demonstrates my ability to engage and educate youth on sensitive and critical topics.

My dedication to community engagement and outreach drives my commitment to fostering connections and promoting equity in all my work.

✷ Project Management

I have successfully managed and executed various projects in community engagement, communications, and health policy:

At UCSF's California Prevention Training Center (CAPTC), I coordinated multiple initiatives to enhance the digital presence of the Communications Team, including crafting social media content, managing platforms, and maintaining the website. My meticulous approach ensured brand consistency and boosted social media engagement.

At the Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO), I facilitated the planning, execution, and assessment of training activities for member health centers and stakeholders of the Tuberculosis Elimination Alliance (TEA). My responsibilities included managing logistics for team meetings, preparing agendas, and contributing to a comprehensive Impact Report, documenting key program insights and successes. Additionally, I spearheaded a preliminary follow-up needs assessment on Community Health Centers (CHCs) that had participated in AAPCHO’s 2022 LTBI/TB Needs Assessment. The aims of this project were to evaluate the current needs, protocols, and promising practices for LTBI/TB screening, testing, and treatment, and to create an initial guideline for a comprehensive future needs assessment. The project successfully highlighted effective practices and identified areas for protocol improvement.

In my academic work, I served as the team lead on a Health Policy group project focused on addressing California's maternal health crisis. I analyzed cesarean section (C-section) rates and identified social determinants and structural barriers impacting maternal health disparities among African American, AI/AN, and A/PI women during pregnancy. I ensured our project met key deadlines, delegated tasks to teammates, and followed up to make sure each member did not fall behind. Additionally, I communicated with the professor for questions and feedback on our progress. We developed four policy recommendations to reduce C-section rates within these groups.

My dedication to detailed planning, efficient execution, and collaborative teamwork drives my success in managing projects that foster community engagement and promote social justice.

✷ Data Collection & Analysis

I have extensive experience in data collection and analysis, leveraging a range of tools and methodologies to draw meaningful insights and drive informed decision-making:

At the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) Center for Infectious Diseases Immunization Branch, I developed a comprehensive Excel database of active Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) and FQHC Look-Alike clinics in California. By conducting detailed data trend analysis using SAS Viya, I identified key trends and patterns, providing valuable insights for the Immunization Team. My expertise in data entry and analysis was instrumental in maintaining an up-to-date and accurate database, which was essential for the department’s ongoing efforts.

In my role supporting a research study on microplastics at CDPH’s Environmental Health Laboratory Department, I demonstrated my data collection and analysis expertise. I carefully recorded sample IDs and results from analysis runs into their Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), ensuring precise data entry and organization. Additionally, I prepared particulate samples for Raman micro-spectroscopy analysis, contributing to the accurate identification and quantification of contaminants.

For my Public Health Capstone Project, I conducted field testing and research on indoor air quality monitors in partnership with CDPH and the Sequoia Foundation. This involved the systematic collection and logging of data from two air quality monitors over a 10-week period. The data was meticulously recorded into a master spreadsheet and later analyzed for trends in air quality data. The findings from this study contributed to the selection process of air quality monitors for Sequoia Foundation’s Oakland Unified School District Air Quality Project.

At the Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO), I spearheaded a follow-up needs assessment on CHCs that participated in AAPCHO’s 2022 LTBI/TB Needs Assessment. I created and disseminated a survey using SurveyMonkey, conducted follow-up interviews, and analyzed survey responses and feedback. This project identified key challenges, barriers, and promising practices, highlighting areas for protocol improvement and addressing social and cultural barriers to LTBI/TB testing, treatment, and education within high-risk populations.

I used tools such as Excel, SAS Viya, CAIR2 Mass Vaccination System, LIMS, and SurveyMonkey to effectively execute these projects.
